“無路可逃”，在印尼的華人約有1200被殺死，超過150位女子在暴動中被強暴。
境內的海外華人害怕這個暴行可能在8月17日印尼獨立紀念日重複發生──那是一場由警察與軍方支持的反對派對總部設在雅加達的敵對派民主鬥爭黨領袖梅加瓦蒂（Megawati Sukarnoputri）支持者驅逐突襲行動的兩週年。
我們即刻強烈要求印尼政府尊重人權；阻止暴力並懲罰肇事者。

Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton,
"No-where to go."; ethnic Chinese in Indonesia were killed about 1,200 people and more than 150 women were raped in the riots.
Overseas Chinese in territory fear the atrocities may be repeated on the second anniversary of a raid by party rivals backed by police and troops on PDI headquarters in Jakarta to evict supporters of opposition leader Megawati Sukarnoputri-and on August 17, Indonesia's Independence Day.
We strongly demand the Indonesian government respect human rights; immediately; to stop the violence and punish the perpetrators.
