他熱愛建築，所畫的作品以建築為主﹔
他狂熱於音樂，尤其是華格納的作品，他曾將所有閒錢都拿去買歌劇院的站票（沒錢買坐票）﹔
他花了很多時間在美術館和圖書館，他自修讀了不少書﹔
他不抽煙、不喝酒﹔
他不搞婚外情﹔
他是素食主義者，有人如此描述他 :
